Album Leaf
Alternative / Indie Rock
The Album Leaf is Jimmy LaValle. Jimmy has been making music for a large majority of his life, starting lessons at the age of 4. With heavy classical, drum and bass, jazz and rock influences, The Album Leaf's debut, "An Orchestrated Rise to Fall" was released in late 1999.
Without the constraints of the traditional band setting and song-writing process, Jimmy is able to incorporate ambient noise, field recordings, taped conversations, radio transmissions and other unique sounds into The Album Leaf to create a sound and atmosphere all his own. The Album Leaf is, in essence, a vehicle through which LaValle can experiment with and expand upon the styles he has studied while merging them with a blend of minimalist instrumentations and post-rock stylings.
Jimmy will have quite a schedule in 2001. The Album Leaf recently released a CDEP/10" on Troubleman and will be releasing two collaborative 7"s on Better Looking Records with Marc Bianchi (her space holiday) and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes. Tiger Style just released The Album Leaf's sophomore record, "One Day I'll Be On Time" which will be followed by an aggressive Album Leaf tour. Look for Album Leaf tracks on several comps as well.
