Babytalk
Freestyle / Idol
“Keep on Move” by Babytalk centers on a relentless dirty groove that carries dubbed out vocal chants, sweaty analog melodies, and squelchy proto-techno bass. The six-leg friend mix, an alternate club version also by Babytalk, rounds off this debut 12” with propulsive pumping rhythms, subby bass guitar and deep effected textures.
This is the first official release by Babytalk, aka producer/engineer Eric Broucek, right-hand to the DFA and touring member of The Juan Maclean. Eric has worked on nearly every DFA-related production since early 2003 - and has most recently taken on the roles of engineer for Hercules & Love Affair, mixer of the latest from Black Dice, and co-producer of the Onastic Dub of LCD Soundsystem’s “North American Scum.” Heavily inspired by the hyperreal sounds of disco, dub and early synthesizer music, Eric founded Stickydisc Recordings in 2007 out of Brooklyn, NY as a vehicle for releasing new and original productions. This is only the beginning… a follow up 12” from Babytalk is due early 2008 with much more to come!
Look for “Keep On Move” on the upcoming FabricLive 36 mix cd by James Murphy and Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem out Nov 2007.
