Gang Gang Dance are an experimental music group based in Manhattan, New York City, and signed to the independent label The Social Registry. The group has become well known within the New York indie rock scene for its distinctive sound that has been variously referred to as "neo-primitivist" or "neo-tribal".
They have played shows with such bands as Architecture in Helsinki, Sonic Youth, Spank Rock, Massive Attack, Animal Collective, Black Dice, and TV on the Radio. In August 2008 Gang Gang Dance conducted the Brooklyn chapter of 88 Boadrum. Their fourth album Saint Dymphna was released on October 20, 2008, on The Social Registry in north America and on Warp Records in Europe and Australia. The album received positive reviews, with Fact Magazine in the UK naming it one of the "best albums we've heard all year".
