House of Fire

House of Fire

Indie Rock / Alternative

House of Fire started in late 2005, not in a burning building, but in a smoky apartment that doubled as a recording studio / toy shop / record shrine. Here at Isaac Betesh’s flat in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, he began constructing a band from the germane vestiges of rock 'n' roll. Each House of Fire song is an artifice of pensive rhythms, ephemeral guitar lines, haunted vocals, and variegated keyboard sounds. Since its inception, the band has drawn in members from Philadelphia, New York City, and Amish Country to make epic rock music for fans of throwback influences of the '60s and '70s. Intertwined in the pop maelstrom you will hear echoes of the Jesus and Mary Chain, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ride, T. Rex, the Byrds, and the Dandy Warhols.

Betesh displays rich vocals and jangly 12-string rhythm; Dave Reis adds backing and lead vocals and bass. Add to that, EJ Hagen and Alex White on guitars, Lucy Rodemich on synth, and Peter Trezzi on drums, and you’ve got a mix of shining, sky-high melodies and thundering star-shaped rhythm.

House of Fire’s self-titled debut is available now on Universal Warning Records.
