PS

PS is an ensemble with 5 members. The common thread here is as it should be—a history of becoming involved with music at a young age, combined with art school backgrounds, form a bond that transcends their influences to create a unique sound and aesthetic.

The bandâs enigmatic front man, Patrick Savage, came to New York with a vision and by luck, and carefully cultivated relationships, he has formed a band of uniquely talented musicians and a tight knit family. Patrick is self-taught on guitar, starting at the age of 13. The lyrics are Patrick Savage pure and simple. The key to the sound of PS is collaboration.

The first person to join Patrick was Ursula Damm (cello), classically trained from Germany. She attended the International Center for Photography in NYC, where she met a roommate of Patrickâs. The two were soon recording in Patrick's living room on a four track. When Ursula left to finish her graduate studies in Germany (temporary hiatus), Patrick was lucky enough to find not only one musician, but two to fill the void.

Nathan Sharratt (melodica/guitar/keyboards) comes from an illustrious background that consists of living on a houseboat in Hermosa Beach and throwing ice cream at tourists while living in Cooperstown, NY. He started his musical career at the age of 4 and went on to be a member of stand out bands such as The Itchy Bitches and a Rubber Chicken and FBI (Female Body Inspectors). Nathan sites influences that range from Graham Coxon and Miles Davis to 80's hair metal.

What is a rock band without rhythm? Not PS. Clint Downing (bass) first met Patrick over a pint (isnât that how some of the best friendships start? Well, when itâs a Guinness, anyway!) at a favorite Lower East Side pub. Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, Clint ended up in NYC as a student at the School for Visual Arts. He feels a kinship with the city, saying he is at home here like no other place. His parents were both at one time professional musicians and encouraged him to play the bass, which he started in his teens. He began classically as well and had been concentrating on jazz before he joined PS. Clint sites Miles Davis as an influence (a rare coincidence in the band!), as well as John Paul Jones and Johnny Cash.
