The cd mixes many of the great elements of modern British rock.There are echoes of Donovan,Pink Floyd, The Stone Roses and Oasis scattered among the thirteen wonderful tracks. This is trippy art -pop at it's best. "Assessment" opens the cd with a fine guitar based rock track.The use of echo is fun. Once the horn outro kicks in -you're hooked.Great bass and drums on the track."Lion Thief" asks the eternal question "where do you go when you hide love away" I'm not sure about that answer-but it's great song. Fun hip-hop beat at the end of the song. "Outside" opens with a martial drum beat and dog bark samples.A great garage rock song with a pretty ending.The fun and varied cd ends with "Pure For".I love the squishy trip-hop bass drum.A relaxed and lovely ending to a fine collection of tunes. Some bands put out a crap cd when the group breaks up."Heroes To Zeros" does not fit into this category.From opening for Radiohead on their 2001 tour to being featured in the "High Fidelity" film-The Beta Band has much to be proud of!
