The Black Heart Procession features 2 members from the San Diego group 3 Mile Pilot. While on hiatus from 3MP, the groups Pinback and BHP were formed. BHP kept the eerie, waltz sound, while Pinback went for more of a pop sound.
'Amore Del Tropico' is a bit catchier from the past ventures of the BHP. They open with a gloomy, sixties pop kind of vibe. I felt this through out most of the album.
A few tracks 'Tropics of Love,' 'Why I Stay,' 'Did You Wonder,' & 'Only One Way' really stood out, they were bit more up-tempo and catchier.
The album was recorded and produced by the band in their studio in San Diego. It really sounds great, but as a whole, nothing really grabbed me. I'm not really crazy about it.
I suggest picking up 'Another Desert, Another Sea' by 3 Mile Pilot. |
