'Twoism' was originally released in the summer of 1995 as a limited run of 100 copies. WIth the growing popularity of BOC, it remained hard to come by unless you wanted to pay $1,000 + prices on eBay.
Luckily, Warp Records re-released the disc in late November this year. BOC remastered and re-cut the nine tracks (eight of which are listed on the CD packaging).
Boards of Canada, create sureal soundscapes not unlike Salvador Dali painted on canvas. BOC creates places to loose yourself, like lying on the moon looking down at the world through the stars, listening to the sounds pass you by. Using hypnotic mathmatical drum beats and percussion with lush, ambient keyboards, with layers upon layers of sounds, BOC creates a musical time machine, capable of bringing you back to a child-like state.
'Twoism' starts of with 'sixtyniner' a framiliar title from 'Music has the Right To Children's,' 'SixtyTen.' The track intros with somber keys and a minimal drum beat, then pauses for some lonley glassy keys and samples then picks up again.
'Oirectine' with erie keyboard melodies sails downsteam with a hypnoctic beat, then falls into a wirlpool of backwards drums.
The brief and unique 'Iced Cooly' with a 4-track demo recording quality, is laden with strange out of tune, and pitch melodies, held together with a beat and bass line.
BOC go chill/techno with 'Basefree' with a chaotic heart beat drum sample, merged with a carousel of calm ambient key textures.
Title track 'Twoism' is framiliar territory to 'Music Has the Right to Children' with it's mathmatical beats phasing in and out of lush keyboard orchestrations.
'Seeya Later' with it's thumping rap beat glides with a groovy bass line and shrilling keys and kettle drum melodies.
The stark and airy 'Melissa Juice' with a light door knock beat and wandering keyboard melodies starts and fades in just over a minute.
'Smokes Quantity' originally off 'Music has the Right To Children' is not much different except the drum beat is lower in the mix on this version, and after 3 minutes fades into the unlisted on artwork keyboard blur of '1986 Summer Fire.'
