The Chemical Brothers ( Tim Rowlands and Ed Simons ) are back
with an EP related to their last cd 'Come With Us'. It's been about a
year since that release-so here's a present to the fans. The electronic
duo gives us 2 remixes/ 2 unreleased tracks/ 1 live cut and 2 videos.
Formed in 1989, the group started out as djs and gradually created
their own tunes. They sort of spearheaded the big beat genre of
electronic dance music. With influences ranging from Public Enemy
to Cabaret Voltaire, the Chemical Brothers have put out some
excellent music.

The 2 remixes 'Star Guitar -Trisco L A Funk Dub' and 'Come With
Us- H Foundation Remix' don't really break any new ground. I much
prefer the original versions on 'Come With Us'. There's just a little
too much synthetic drumming and not enough of the original song in
the remix process.

The 2 unreleased songs 'H.I.A' and 'Electronic Battle Weapon 6'
are both really fine cuts. The last song ' Temptation/ Star Guitar-
Live From The Brixton Academy' showcases the live energy of a
Chemical Brothers show. The crowd is really into it and the group
plays well live.This was my favorite cut.

All in all the 'American EP' is a fine addition to the Chemical
Brother catalog , but I would send someone to buy 'Come With Us'
before this cd. This ep is very enjoyable-but mainly for the hardcore
fans.
