Clinic is a four piece band from Liverpool England.Their sound heralds the third wave of psychedelia.The second wave consisted of fellow Liverpudlians Echo And The Bunnyman along with The Teardrop Explodes back in the late seventies."Winchester Cathedral" has a very retro organic sound.Not a lot of digital loops here.Reverb drenched
guitar and drums rule on this cd.The songwriting is quite strong. Singer Ade Blackburn has a strong vocal resemblance to Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees. Some good attitude.

"Country Mile" opens the cd with something like an electronic note.At first I thought this might be an electronica group. Not a chance! A guitar riff followed by driving drums power this fine first cut. My favorite song was "WDYYB".This is probably the most straight ahead rock song from the twelve cuts on "Winchester Cathedral"."Falstaff" add a sixties pop melody to the cd.The last cut is a fine instrumental called "Fingers". I love the sound of an upright piano. Horns and good old reverbed guitar raise the psychedelic quotient.

I guess the members of Clinic are always photographed wearing surgical masks. Kind of odd-but they create some really interesting music. The sound of "Winchester Cathedral" is kind of lo-fi. The music sounds like it actually cound have been recorded in the sixties.The
use of horns,harmonica and piano vary the sound of "Winchester Cathedral" in a very positive way. A fine effort.
