Ben Gibbard in the midst of his success of the The Postal Service an IDM/Emo venture with Dntel's Jimmy Tamborello, still had time to release a great new Death Cab For Cutie album entitled, "Transatlanticism." and new word worthy of being showcased in Webter's.
"Transatlanticism," spins in to play with the boldest track on the album "The New Year," which has an explosive and rocking vibe for these heart on the sleeve wearing alchemists. Laden with distorted guitars and a electrifying erratic beat as Ben exclaims his anti New Year resolution "So this in the New Year?, I don't feel any different."
The production is superb crystal clean perfection by Death Cab's keyboard/guitarist, Chris Walla. Bassist Nick Harner is rejoined by former band mate Jason McGerr who beats new life into the project with his urgent precision. Death Cab's song writing is back on track churning out gems like the eight minute title track "Transatlanticism," which boils slowly to perfection using the finest ingredients, great guitar melodies, honest lyrics and slow brewing percussion. "Death Of An Interior Decorator," runs well with it's off-kilter and playful drum beat. To the Needling ending "We Looked Like Giants," with high speed cadence .
Seattle's DC4C are back and sounding well polished, so make sure to pick up "Transatlanticism," for a spin with the broken hearted Elmo in Emo-Land you won't regret it. |
