You probably have heard Dirty Vegas in a dance club or watching TV.

The self-titled release is a bit mainstream, easy to like, easy to hate, but throughout the disc you’ll find the songs are well written, and catchy enough to make the trip to the Z-Gallery to decorate your pad with candles and chill to your new CD purchase.

Dirty Vegas is composed of British lads Ben and Paul Harris (no relation), whom lay down the tracks as Steve Smith lays down his voice.

The opening track, 'I Should Know' is an ethereal dance song with Daft Punk Lite-ish sound with thumping beats, bouncing bass and calm keys and light guitar strumming. The vocals seem a bit dry in need of some reverb, as well as being turned down in the mix.

'Ghosts,' takes the sophomore spot on the disc with a more ethereal approach with more spacey vocals and glassy keyboards.

Track-ito tres , is “Lost and Found” which is a chill track with hypnotic vocals and thumping beats

If you own or stolen a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse you probably can sing along to 'Days Go By' which lyrics read “Days go by and still I think about you . . . Days when I couldn’t live my life with out you.” The track blends tribal electronic drum programming, block-rocking bass, ethereal keyboards and alienated, distorted ambient vocals. The reason this song works so well is the distorted, effect processed, vocals, which give the song a lost in the desert feeling.

The snail-paced 'Candles' is good mix 70s jazz fusion, with ambient chill, the Fender Rhodes-ish keyboards sway with the beats which break here and there as Steve Smith exclaims 'Oh it’s time to make amends, you’ve been burning the candle at both ends.'

“Alive” takes on a Middle Eastern flair with synth-sitar-guitar backed with bumping bass and intricate beats.

“Simple things Part 2” glides and shimmers with a Pink Floyd feel with strummed guitars and sequenced noise and riveting beat programming, later we come to find the song meld into “Another Brick In The Wall, Part II”

Closing out the disc is an alternate take of 'Days Go By,' this version is raw and acoustical a straightforward version, which was then distorted in the studio to produce there, hit track.

All in all the disc had a short lived novelty but the noveltywore off pretty quick, worth a few spins, lets see what they do next.
