What bands use to do that? Oh, I remember 80’s bands. Such as, you ask? Depeche Mode did it as did Duran Duran and about every other single new wave pop band from the 80’s. Here is where Echoboy steps in. Echoboy has a distinct sound that inserts itself it to your brain and then you kind of say to yourself, “this is nice and different.” It is almost as if Richard Warren or for the rest of this review we will call Echoboy has found away to make electronica not annoying and repetitive like that stupid music that blares over dance halls across Europe and most of the manic depressive United States. The album is well structured and as I said before original. Its got a mixture of instruments mostly fake, but who knows what’s real anymore. The songs are closely knitted together kind of mellow but at times rocks out with the best of them. The guitars are mainly clean but are dirty when need be. The greatest thing about the music itself is the electronica layered in the background. The sounds that come from the machines are amazing at times and just help whatever else that may be going on at the time. Its stellar mixing on Floods part is well noted because with out precision this album lies in ruins. The lead track “Automatic Eyes” stands out above the album standing upon a pedestal with its exuberant mixture of acoustic guitar and mesh-tronica and its mono-tone lyrics. The album is good, not exactly what you would call the normal spin and win like some CD’s. It takes a few turns to feel the burn and the rhyming is intentional. It’s a good LP with a lot offer the patient intellect, or the impatient track surfer. Either or you’ll get a new understanding for whatever you want it to be.
