'Sunlight makes me paranoid' clocks in at just over thirty minutes. Leave them wanting more. The production should be crisp and clean. Another clear positive for this debut. Oh yes, Good songs are a help. This cd has all these and much more. Elefant have a bright future. This New York quartet is the brainchild of the singer Diego Garcia. This debut is a winner. The opening cut 'Make up' starts with a simple bass/drum intro. The guitar is used mainly to color the song. The bass/drum combo of James Jeffrey Berrall and Kevin Mcadams provide a great solid foundation for every cut. A great opening song. 'Bokkie' starts with an angular bass line a la' PYLON. Most of Diego Garcia's songs concern longing for love. Always good fodder for pop music. His vocals on 'Bokkie' remind me of David Bowie. A fine alternative rock song. My clear favorite from the ten songs is 'Love'. Great lyrics/catchy guitar riff/cool chorus. This song should be a hit. As you can tell,I really enjoyed 'Sunlight makes me paranoid'. My only complaint is that Diego Garcia sings with a slight British accent. What's up with that? Kudos to Tom Clapp for truly fine production. Simple yet effective.
