Elliott's third released "Songs in the Air," shines with greatness, with some shimmering moody angst. The quartet recorded in their own home studio with some recruited help from local Louisville musicians, Whitney Allen - Cello, Christian Frederickson (of The Rachel's) - Viola , Paola Monrique - Violin, Marie Racine - Violin and Aaron Todovich on Keyboards.
The album begins with "Land in Water," which has a Strange Boutique, guitar flavor by Benny Clark mixed with Kevin Ratterman's riviting drums and punching bass delivered by Jason Skaggs as lead singer, guitarist, Chris Higdon belts out a moody bliss filled vocals. The band has a retro sound with a modern flavor sounding like rocking Coldplay as a poor explanation.
"Carry On" waltz's about with a distinctive beat and shimmering guitars as the seven plus epic of "Beijing (To Many People)" breathes and flows with a intricate guitar backed with e-bow distortion cream as Higdon sultry whispers "To Many People, so many people in this world," as the strings trinkle in for a lush parade.
Song in the Air finally comes to close with "Genea," a slow building keyboard sequence against a low end drum beat an ambient keys fluttering about.
Elliott has done well with this one, worth every penny and a trip to the music store. |
