Canadian songstress Esthero’s sophomore release is packed with guest appearances. From the wunderkind Sean Lennon to 90210’s Brian Austin Green.
Kudos to Esthero to co-writing her own songs, unfortunately the album doesn’t flow well and for one good song there are 8 bad songs. Rapper Jemeni makes several appearances that should go on her own project and not mixed into Esthero’s package. The title track is a funky dance tune that could be remixed nicely for New York and European clubs. The attempts to sound close to Tracey Thorn or Fiona Apple fall flat and empty. Esthero makes a good effort but is unable to find her niche in any scene. The liner notes read like a diary or letters to friends. The entire album sounds very teenage girl falling in and out of love. It reminds of high school when my friends and I would get together and make cassette tapes, slamming bad boyfriends and the world at large.
Wait for the remix on a DJ release and dance the night away.
