Danse Macarbe by Omaha’s The Faint is a pretty good collection of songs. I grew up in the eighties and it was refreshing to hear the sounds of yesteryear coming from a newer 90’s group, one from Nebraska I might add! On top of that, I am the kind of bloke who thinks “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke”. So, why this remix CD from a relatively obscure group, do they think they are Linkin Park? Danse Macarbe Remixes on Astralwerks takes the already friendly dark synth toons and does em up for the dance floor with remixes by dance floor vets like Paul Okenfeld (yawn) and Photek (yeah) plus attempts by Junior Sanchez, Thin White Duke, Ursula 1000, Tommie Sunshine and a couple of other wax masters. Each remix track holds it own but the whole album is difficult to listen to strait though. If you heard one of these tracks on the dance floor in the middle of a candy flipped out set, it might be pretty phat but a whole album is as hard to swallow as an eTab after a huge blunt, it just isn’t recommended.
