The Funerals cd is perfect after hours music. It reminds me of a set by a
band after 1 o'clock in the morning. This Icelandic group plays a mellow form
of alt/folk/country.There's a sort of warts and all quality to the cd that is kind
of endearing. It was recorded over a couple of weekends live to a 2 track
recorder.Slick would not decribe the production of 'Pathetic Me'.
'Rain and snow' has a great vocal by Lara. She has a Hope Sandoval
kind of quality in her voice.'Teenagers' has a nice melody and harmonies
from Raynor and Lara. The lyrics are pretty funny too.My favorite track is
'Unapreciative Me'.It reminds me of a mellow Velvet Underground song.
Think 'Pale blue eyes' Good Stuff!!!There are a few clunkers, but in general
'Pathetic Me' is a quirky and original offering.
Some members of The Funerals belong to Trabant,an Icelandic electronica
group. This music is as far away from electronica as you can get.The tempos
on this cd are are about as slow as you can get.I haven't heard anything by
Trabant ,but it would interesting to see how different their sound is from
the enjoyable 'Pathetic Me.'
