When I saw this cd- I wasn't how good this was going to be. A strange bunny logo and credits that give thanks to Jesus ,the devil and radio host Art Bell. As it turns out "Music To Start A Cult To" is one of the best cds I have heard this year. Gram Rabbits sound is a weird mix of Wagon Train/Ennio Morricone western music along with dance and straight ahead rock. The vocals by Jesika von Rabbit remind me of Gwen Stefani. A very enjoyable cd.
"Dirty Horse" opens the set with a downtempo acoustic song. The double tracked vocals by Jesika and Todd Rutherford are spoken. A nice slide guitar comes in after a while. The second cut "Cowboy Up" could be Gram Rabbits "Hella Good." Maybe it was the syndrum that make me think that-or that cool kind of dance track. Anyway-it's a fun song! The most rocking song on the cd is "Land Of Jail". A great guitar riff and lots of energy. My favorite song was Disco #2. It begins with weird samples that go on about rock stars/Jesus and amino acids. A great bass line propels this fine dance tune.
"Music To Start Cults To" was not the cd I expected-it was so much more.If
you don't mind a strange mish-mashing of styles-Gram Rabbit could be for you. There is no bad track on the cd.I either liked or loved every song. This band might be the best western/dance/rock group operating at the moment. Hit the dusty trail with Gram Rabbit!!
