Matt Pond PA, releases their fourth album 'The Nature of Maps” October 29th on Poly Vinyl Records. The new release contains twelve nicely composed tracks by Matt Pond and friends.
Pond shows great song writing skills on guitar and amazing lyrical content. Pond's vocals very reminiscent of James Mercer of The Shins with a tinge of Robert Smith. Also composed of Jim Kehoe delicately precise guitar leads. Mike Kennedy, drums and Matt Raisch on bass hold the glue of this melancholy to up tempo indie-pop. Jim Hoster, Eve Miller lay down some beautiful cello melodies, giving the album a swirling feeling. 'Nature of Maps' starts off with 'Fairlee' with driving drums and bass and a catchy hammering guitar lead. Liquid arpeggiated guitar melding and a great bass line make up the melancholy 'No More.' Acoustic guitar driven 'The Party' with powerful chorus and beautiful cello melodies. The album sound like the Shins 'Oh Inverted World' mixed by Tim Burton with and added orchestra of sounds.
