The Mozzer returns with another fine release after last years excellent "You Are The Quarry". I saw Morrissey many moons ago and his band sounded nowhere near as sharp as they do on "Live At Earls Court". Good thing they released this fresh sounding and vibrant effort. The man seems to realize that a few people might want to hear some songs by his former band. Five Smiths songs are spread amongst the eighteen tracks from this live set performed on December 18,2004.

The set opens with an ok version of "How Soon Is Now." Something about this rendition seems textbook-but not a bad start. Next comes some spirited versions of Morrissey's solo material. "Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice" is excellent. He also pay tribute to his influences with couple of cover versions. The old Patti Smith song "Redondo Beach" sounds fresh and bouncy in his live version. "Subway Train" by the New York Dolls is used as an intro for Morrissey's own "Munich Air Disaster 1958. Near the end of the cd is a ripping version of his comeback song "Irish Blood, English Heart.´ The live version burns!

"Live At Earls Court" is one of the best live cds I have heard in a long time. The recording is clean and lively. The band sounds amazing. That voice! And did I mention the songs! With five Smiths songs added to Morrissey's better solo material- this makes a fine collection. The only glaring omission from this set is no version of "Every Day Is Like Sunday." Apart from my pet peeve- "Live At Earls Court" is a fine purchase for Anyone into The Smiths or Morrissey,
