New Brooklyn rock trio, The Nailbiters recent debut No Forwarding Address is a pleasant indie-rock surprise offering up mature and rollicking songs that are keyboard driven and catchy. Formed in 2005, this rather new band consists of Singer/guitarist Dave Tucker, drummer Drew Stoga (of Brooklyn local band Furniture), and keyboardist James Clark. The albums lead off track “How Could I” is a great opener and was immediately stuck in my head for a week as this keyboard heavy and guitar driven song is beefy on the riffs and groove, that’s quite simply very nicely executed. Other standout tracks include “The Rock and the Wall,” “That Look,” and “Coming Attraction” that all possess thoughtful lyrics. A plus is that the band has a penchant for playing great solos while sounding bigger than the three piece that they are. For a new indie rock band, The Nailbiters are off to a great start, as their freshman offering of No Forwarding Address is a promising look at what this Brooklyn trio can do. Get a bass player guys and your music will be complete, but for the time being, you’re off to a very nice start! |
