Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds have been making music for quite
a while now. Formed after the breakup of The Birthday Party in 1983,
The Bad Seeds have always provided a great backup for the Australian
singer -songwriter. You would think that after 20 years the band would
sound tired or bored. Nocturama proves that this is not the case. Built
like a great set list- the cd starts slowly-builds-comes back down and
ends with a bang.

The opening track 'Wonderful Life' is a slow piano based ballad. The
subtle backing by The Bad Seeds is truly masterful. Nick Caves vocals
are just right. All through the cd, I was particularly impressed by Nicks
piano and organ playing. 'Bring It On' sounds like a perfect candidate
for a single. It reminds me of a left of center John -don't call me Cougar-
Mellencamp tune. Great arrangement -very catchy and a memorable
chorus. Backing vocals are provided by Chris Bailey of the legendary
Australian band The Saints. The closing track 'Baby I'm On Fire' clocks
in at nearly 15 minutes. The ragged rocker seems to be his tribute to
mojo- the Austin Powers kind. Nick should win a prize for being able to
spit out so many lyrics.

Nocturama is the best cd I have heard in a long time. Nick Cave can do
it all. The songwriting,singing and ensemble playing by The Bad Seeds
are all right on target. Buy it and enjoy.
