The Patience Book are an enjoyable Los Angeles quintet. They play a melodic
and sophisticated pop-rock."Physics Under Quiet Lights" is a five song ep that
gives us a glimpse into their music.Singer Brittany Collins has a fine voice that
matches the type of music her band has created. An interesting first effort.
The first song is an instrumental called "Convergence".Wind chimes start
the song-followed by guitar picking.Drums and violin kick the instrumental into
a mellow overdive.A pretty beginning."If Wishes Were Inches" is a building
pop-rock tune.The old-school-as in seventies-mellotron solo in the middle
reminded me of Keith Emerson on "LuckyMan".The best song of the bunch
is the last one entitled "Everything Is Forgetfulness (Dedalus)".A fine melody
with a memorable chorus.
Don't buy "Physics Under Quiet Lights" if you like your music hard and rocking.
The closest comparisons to this music might be The Cranberries or Sixpence
None The Richer. This EP is a nice beginning for a promising new band.
