Jessica Peters whom perfoms under Petracovich, named after her great-grandfather, released her debut album 'Blue Cotton Skin,' on Redbutton Records.
Jessica's voice is enamoring and beautiful not unlike Aimee Mann, she performs with a distinct sounding Nord II keyboard, light sparse guitar work from help of Tad Wagner of Buellton, and hypnotic drumming by Andrew Giacumakis.
The nine track debut starts off with the surreal 'Night Time' which begins with twisting keyboard noises as Peters lusious voice penetrates the washy mix of ambient swirl.
The dream-like 'Fall from Trees' with carosel keyboards, lush decadent vocals, brilliant drum programing and Alice In Wonderland effects showcases her song writing abilities.
'Blue Cotton Skin,' contains with two sparse instumental tracks 'Rose Bud' and 'Coyote in the Moon' and the upbeat 'Birds in Flight' unique instrumentation of 'Water House' and comes to close with the dreamy 'Footsteps.'
The album is a great listen of lush landscapes of sound, similair to Sparklehorse's 'It's a Wonderful Life' meets Aimee Mann produced by Brian Eno.
Jessica's sister Grace, performs in a band called Fairview. Petracovich is planning to perfom some live shows to promote her debut jem 'Blue Cotton Skin.' visit her site for more info http://www.redbuttonsrecords.com/petracovich.htm |
