Warp is the home of quirky electronic music-and if an artist were on the
perfect label- it would be REQ.Ambience is the key here. There are no big
dance beats.Samples seem to be kept to a minimum.Vocals are virtually
nonexistant. There is an organic quality to the sound that is refreshing .I
have a feeling that a lot of the cd was recorded live.
'Ampeg 18 Khz' starts with an insistent drum beat followed by what
sounds like a melodica. The track has an arabic feel that is quite cool.
'Java Bytes' is probably the most industrial sounding track. There is something
that sounds like a koto mixed in-between the various synth beeps and burps.
A very interesting track. My favorite is 'Wasp Zither'.It starts with a simple
melodic figure and builds quite nicely. The drum pattern is simple but
effective.
REQ could probably be described as alternative electronic music. It is
definitely for the adventurous listener.Their stuff would be great on a movie
soundtrack. As for me-I really like this cd.
