I hate writing bad reviews, because it makes me feel like the bad guy. Then again if you think about it, the bad guy is the person who releases the CD, not me. Now that we got that out of the way The Ruiners new release entitled “How’s That Grab Ya?” on disaster records is quite a doozey. Doozey as in, who the hell gave them money to release this crap. The best way to explain this type of music is the Stray Cats gone goth. But, then again the Stray Cats were good The Ruiners are not. The band consists of Scott Ruiner on Bass, Sasquatch Ruiner on Drums, Lou Ruiner Keyboards, Rick “Kitten” Ruiner Vocals and flame-throwing guitar.
Bad Goth music that’s supposed to be all dark but isn’t pisses me off. I think the whole thing with these guys is that they’re a joke to start off with and I think they think they’re vampires. But who knows, because all they sing about is stupid Halloween stuff like ghost’s and goblins and stuff. “Vampire Dating” is a song which is about being a vampire and dating. This is complex stuff, because anyone knows it must be hard to date being a vampire, I would think. Another great song that isn’t so great is “Ghost Pains”, it’s basically a song that has some point to it but I never really got the point to it. So basically I don’t know the point to it.
Anyway this album is a joke; if you like jokes that sound bad then buy this album. I am pretty sure this is just another coaster for my collection and everyone needs a good coaster, am I right?
