Sahara Hotnights are four women from northern Sweden. They play
aggressive punk influenced rock.Maria Andersson(vocals/guitar) has the
right voice and attitude for this band.I was very impressed by the
interaction of the band members. The playing is super tight. Also the
use of dynamics in the was quite fine.
"Quite a feeling" is a great rocker that uses these dynamics with
great results. The breaks with just drums leading into great guitar runs
made the song very special."Impressed by me" is a nice greasy rocker
with a cool vocal effect. The song starts with a bullhorn effect that becomes
clean when the chorus starts. This makes the chorus stand out even more.
Very clever."I know exactly what to do" is kind of a trip-hop rocker.Slower
tempo and very good.
The only problem I had with "C'mon Let's Pretend" was that no one
song stood out and grabbed me by the throat.I enjoyed the cd very much-
but I wish there was one that pleaded to be listened to over and over
again.Maybe on their next cd.Go Sweden! Go Sahara Hotnights!
