6 Sea and Cake One Bedroom Thrill Jockey | 2003 | Album Biography Comments (0) Read Full Page Digg Review Add del.icio.us   Chicago's quartet, Sea and Cake have released their sixth album entitled 'One Bedroom,' on Thrill Jockey Records. The arty packaged CD contains 9 new tracks of airy jazzy pop material and a interesting cover song. 'One Bedroom' is a polished combination of 2000's Oui's simplicity and 1997's Fawn's electronic beat. The band consists of Vocalist, Sam Prekop who sings and plays guitars and synths, Archer Prewitt singing backing vocals noodling on the piano and gutair, Eric Clardige who keeps the groove on bass, and John McEntire mixing it up with his intricate drumming styles as well as the record. The album begins with a lush jam 'Four Corners' which calm starts with an intricate arrangements of beautiful pop melodies, then calm fades out like a dream. 'Hotel Tell' starts off with a disjointed electro beats and lush keys, meshed with a sticky bass line as the breathy, Prekop calmly sings of his aspects of life. The closing track a must hear cover of David Bowies 'Sound and Vision.' Gently constructed with intricate drum programing, delicate synth arrangments giving the song a fresh and airy feel, Prekop’s sings Bowie's masterpiece with passion and feeling. I didn't find any stand out tracks of 'One Bedroom' but listening to the album as a whole was very pleasing. It is a great feel good album to take a drive on a sunny day too.
