Talented remix artist Timo Maas gives us ten remixes of songs by famous and not so famous artists-along with one song of his own.Welcome to the tyranny of the beat.Get ready for a lot of club shaking sounds.Timo tends to be a little more cerebral than most in his approach, but I like that.
The cd opens with remix of a song by Kelis. This is nice slice of melodic funk.I've never
heard the original version-but this is fresh and funky."Breaking Up The Girl" is a nice
remix of an okay Garbage song.Timo Maases song "Unite" is a repeating mantra of
words with a techno beat.A strange mix of cold electronica with the hard dance stuff.
Haktan O'Nals "Subfreakie" has a great groove-nice dynamics --and a wild synth solo.
Tracks by Moby,BT and Fatboy Slim are fine -but nothing to write home about. The
final track by Placebo-one of my favorite bands-has a nice atmosphere.Their song called
"Special K" isn't one of my favorites-but Maas does a fine remix.
"Music For The Maases 2" is one of those continuous mix cds.Sometimes you can't
tell where one song ends and another begins. Not my favorite format. I quite enjoyed
many of the tracks on "Music For The Maases 2." It's fun to hear tracks by the famous
and not so famous next to one another.Timo Maas surely knows how to fill a dancefloor.
