Man do I like a good effort and man do I love some good old fashioned polished punk rock. Turbonegro, has released Scandinavian on Epitaph record and this new release fills the bill as one of the best hard rock-punk rock albums of the summer. If you are begging for some quality solid rock with that solid almost CKY feel you’re in for something you might want to buy.

Scandinavian Leather is a very good release on two plains. One being that it has a really nice mix and sound quality to it which some of the past Turbonegro albums lacked. Second it is a nice breather from the “pop-crap-annoying-punk” which I bitch about enough already so I will spare the gripes. The boys put together a nice mix of punk and rock and roll. It seems more likely now they would lean towards the rock since punk has been slated a bad name lately. The albums main anthem is “Gimmie Some” which is their whole out look on life. Its quite catchy and has a really sweet guitar lead in. Another stand out tracks has to be Drenched In Blood, which I find to be dark yet not serious. These guys like to have fun with the whole rock horror mystique and balance it out with some very nice solos and heavy bass break downs. Scandinavian Leather is by far their most solid work, not most punk, but most well rounded and pieced together. It is good investment for those who like the grimier and less radio friendly music that is out there.

Jeff’s break down: On the very first spin I was in to every note note and every bar chord, its very captivating. It will get you rocking out till you decide otherwise. It’s pretty good but its not everyone’s taste I might add. So, just take my word for it and give it a listen and if you like it, well then I did my job. (Or maybe Turbonegro did).
