Coming at you from Peru, this compilation of tropical Peruvian music from the 60s is chocked full of great son, cumbia, boogaloo and guaracha styles of afro-cuban music. So if your into Latin music, this is a good place to start, as it allows you to hear who and where it all developed from. With many of these artists having recorded these songs over 30 years ago, this is a great compilation to get an eclectic taste of the styles of music that came before and influenced many of the current American styles of music from rock to hip hop and everything in between.

With 28 tracks from many artists you probably have never heard of before, Volume 2 in this series is as good a place to start as Volume 1 when it comes to Latin music. Standout tracks on this compilation include "Las Guitarras Tropicales," by Silvestre Montez y sus Guantanameros, which has congas that won’t quit and some really great sounding guitars, and "Arroz Con Coco," by Pedro Miguel y sus Maracaibos featuring some really nice singing and great rhythm. "Boogaloo Del Perro," by Enrique Delgado y Los Destellos is a scorching psychedelic trip featuring spaced out guitar playing over Cuban rhythm that makes for one of the most far-out tracks on this comp.

Nothing short of danceable, this compilation is a great entry into discovering some amazing Latin artists and the roots of this fantastic and eclectic music. The songs here will surprise you as many vary from style to style, making this an entertaining listen with rhythms that just don’t have a chance to get boring.
