The Birmingham trio, Wooodbine, contributes a brillant binding debut album. Susan Dillane on vocals, Rob Healy on guitar, Graeme Swindon on bass, percussion and vocals, deliver eleven, elegant folk electronic songs. The Untitled disc begins with 'Mound of Venus' a groovy pop-song, complete with laid back guitar, shrilling sounds cascade around Dillane's sexy vocal melody as the drums enter and leave like a calm tide.

'Neswik' jangles as if Luscoius Jack collaberated with Tom Waits as Dillane calmly sings, 'We like the Highs, We Like the Lows, They don't like us, Fuck what they know!'

Great tracks include the haunting 'Thats Enough'
with minimal guitars, chimeming xylophones and metalic sounds with Dillane's hauntingly whispered vocals, and 'Complete Control' which sounds like where you wish Mazzy Star could have gone, and seductive 'Don and Alex' and the twining, cosmic closing of 'Jimmy.'

The Highlight of the album is 'Tricity Tiara' which feature's Swindon & Dillane harmonizing a unforgetably, strong vocal melody, reminscent of the Rolling Stones. Slow, building brilliant acoustic and electric guitar work by Rob Healy with tasteful tamborine and percusion.

If you like Brodcast, Jesus and the Mary Chain, Mazzy Star, Cat Power you will fall in love with Woodbine.
I can't wait to hear more succulent tracks.
In the meantime, I hear Dillane sung a track on the
Dirty Vegas Album.
