In the midst of chaos and clamor surrounding the debut of the iPhone, Apple's iTunes quietly released an exclusive Yo La Tengo EP. While most of you were drooling over the Apple TV and the rather premature preview of a phone that won't hit stores until June, Matador records was uploading this EP.
The live EP includes a new surf rock track entitled "El Es Gay," plus a quarter of a minute longer version of "Pass The Hatchet I think I'm Goodkind," which clocks in at eleven-minutes and seven-seconds. Also from their last album, "I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass" they perform the gentle "Weakest Part." The EP closes with a seldom heard cover song about Lyndon Johnson's daughter called "Luci Baines" originally by Arthur Lee's pre-Love band, The American Four.
The New Jersey three-piece are presently spinning about through the states on tour again, so if you can't make it out to one of their shows, pick up this live EP. The Apple (AAPL) stocks gained 7% as Yo La Tengo (YLT) quietly held court. |
