Venus Hum opened the show with a strong set gaining a huge fan base from the audience. The band consisted of two guys on Keyboard and computers fronted by a powerful woman singer who sings in a Bjork like fashion. Venus Hum have a four song EP out entitled 'Humming Birds' released October 22, 2002.
Sing-Sing crept down the stairs of the Troubadour, dawned in all white from head to toe including their wristbands. With a stage filled with bubbles, they started the show with a new mid-tempo tune entitled 'Hit & Run.'
The band consists of the seductive Lisa O'Neill (Kid Loco, Mad Professor, Locust) wearing a sailor's hat, pranced and sang, along side of ex-Lush guitarist Emma Anderson backed by precision drummer, solid bass, and a beautiful Keyboardest who used a Jen organ and Roland JV-90, played horn, guitar and sung back-up vocals. Also enlisted was a Apple Titanium Lap top seated on stage on a bar stool.
The show really kicked in on their second song 'Teagan' off their new album 'The Joy of Sing-Sing' as the crowd started grooving to the up beat tempos and O'Neill's not so, shy presence.
Sing x2, stormed through their set of danceable space-pop, playing 'You don't know,' 'I Do,' 'Command,' 'I'll Be,' 'When I was M,' 'Western,' and the eighties sounding 'Panda Eyes,' and closed with their single, 'Feels Like Summer.'
The Los Angeles crowd, cheered and applauded and Sing-Sing return for an encore and performed, a rocking 'Far Away From Love' and 'I can see you.'
