On Saturday July 13, 2003 the Los Angeles fans of Modest Mouse and the newly formed Ugly Cassanova gathered to witness the bands live performance. The band staggered on stage and played 'PaciFico' as Issac Brock shouted 'Sharpen your Teeth or Lay Flat!' The bands music sounded really great except front man Issac Brock seemed to be having some trouble with his vocal monitors on stage. He was constantly upset with the sound shouting at the mixing booth, not able to close his eyes and fall into the groove of the music the rest of the band was producing. I saw Modest Mouse play last September in New York at Irving Plaza and was blown away buy Issac's - Modest Mouse ringleaders stage presence. He made everyone feel very welcome and put on an amazing show.

Ugly Cassanova played all the greats from their new debut entitled 'Sharpen Your Teeth' but Issac he never seemed to get over the fact the sound wasn't going to sound better and constantly gave the mixer the evil eye and shouted at him from between songs.

I'll write this show off as one of those off days, but I would suggest to Issac to be more in the moment and just let go of the frustrations and just jam his music as bad is might have sounded to him, I bet everyone would have loved him to let go of his disappointment and just rock on. My buddy Justin went to the second show on Sunday evening and said the show was a lot smoother and snapped this picture of sweat filled Issac shouting in a bull horn in a much better mood! I love the Ugly Cassanova album and the bands performance and hope to catch Issac on a better night!
